Date: Fri, 04 May 2001 12:12:29 +0900 From: Makoto Sakuda <sakuda@neutrino.kek.jp> Minutes of SciFi meeting, May 3 (Thu), 8:30-10:30, R346. 1. Analysis status 1) Cosmic ray analysis Yokoyama updates cosmic ray data analysis till R701292 (-4/16) Summary will come in the next meeting with updated plots. 2) Monte Carlo for Y2001 data Yokoyama left a report on noise. Tuning of noise looks good. Boyd reports that MC is almost ready. 3) FC3/FC8 Boyd compared FC8 and FC3, and saw 10% reduction with FC3. The difference seems to be in the second tracks. He will scan and check those rejected events. 4) New bank test and filter Ishida reported the status of SciFi new bank code development: - gtrack bank (matching between detector components): ready - kalman fit bank : almost ready (format proposed) - sftntrack : under development (unified to scitr banks) It will take one more week to complete the job. He is working on a new fake hit filter developped by Kobe group. 5) Event selection -- Iwashita/Ishida Iwashita is starting to test fg++ with Jun99 set. The inconsistency which was reported at the meeting has been solved (Steve). 6) MC status Walter wants to know how the MC bank keeps the history of particles, for example how to know a proton from the primary interaction and from the rescattering. 7) Schedule for NIM paper -- B.J.Kim He will distribute the 2nd draft to SciFi members soon. He wants to finish it in July. 2 items (new filter and new alignment) were discussed. See his e-mail and http://neutrino.kek.jp/~bockjoo/sftperform00.ps. 8) Calibration work -- Iwashita After he comes back to KEK tomorrow, we will test it. 2. Problems/Jobs this month 1) MC -- Walter He will summarize plots in Web. Effect of models on Inelastics. 2) E_nu -- Boyd We hope to reduce the systematic errors with new MC models and background reduction. 3) Tracking error/Noise -- Ishida - The tracking efficiency / noise etc will be continuously studied from now on (on the way of fakefilter improvement). For the purpose we need common utility to reproduce a) Tracking efficiency vs layers using cosmic-rays / MC b) Two track finding efficiency, MC true vs. reconstructed c) Probalility of attaching random noise tracks, using 1-track muons. d) ...., whatever appeared to be important.. SNU members (BJ+HP) will organize these codes/kumacs for official use in the repository (HP says a and c is already in) and distribute tips. 3. Plan for K2K meeting (June 25-26) 1) Hardware performance -- Yokoyama B.J.Kim 2) Event rate and systematic errors -- Iwashita 3) MC study and nQE/QE -- Walter 4) E_nu -- Boyd 5) E_nu with low energy 2-tracks and contained events -- Ishida 6) Q^2 -- Jeon 7) E_nu wo LG etc -- Boyd 8) Upgrade -- Sakuda //
