Minutes of SciFi weekly meeting (00/Dec/25)

    1. Cosmic-ray data analysis
After finishing LED/EL calibrations and optimizing HV and ADC thresholds,
we took cosmic-ray data with 100microsec and 60microsec gate
width during Dec.21-26. Ishida analysed the data and compared the performance.

    1) Run0263/1206 Jun-00 configration (Previous set)
    2) Run01204 HV/Threshold changed
    3) Run1189 2) + MCP gate=60microsec

    We show
    (a) Tracks/Trigger
: Fraction of traversing >15 layers out of Scint Triggered events
    (b) x, y hit Efficiency
: Hits found along the track/Expected hits
    (c) Extra hits/IIT/event
: All hits - 1 (on the track) per event per IIT

                 (a) tracks/trig (b) Hit efficiency (c)extra hits
      Config. x y
    1) Old 0.094+-0.003 0.958(+-0.001) 0.963 1.81
    2) New 0.102+-0.003 0.962 0.971 1.93
    3) New 0.103+-0.003 0.950 0.962 1.41
       +60microsec

We observe that the new configration 2) is best. MCP gate width is
100microsec (same as before) by the following reasons:
From (a), we find 9(+-4)% more tracks with 2) than the previous
configration 1); From (b), we see higher efficiency for 2) than 3).

**We stay with 100microsec gate width. MCP HV and threshold have been
    adjusted better.**

Ishida also finds that by changing the hit condition, we will have 1%
    better efficiency than 2).

Ishida and Iwashita will improve the efficiency further by optimizing hit
    conditions.
We have 6, 8 p.e. data, but no 1 p.e. data. We will take 1 p.e. data next
    year for Pixel simulation.
HVs were turned off on December 29, 17:00. They will be ON on Jan.4 or 5.

    2. K2K PRL paper ("First Detection of Accelerator-Produced Neutrinos...")
Comments should be sent to paper committee by January 4, 2001.

    3. Tracking performance paper (NIM) --- BJ.Kim/Park
We are still discussion over the 0-th draft.
*Ishida work on Section3 (hit reconstruction).
*BJK add figures showing improvement on alignment starting
      from survey.
*Sakuda add Section 5 (Neutrino event reconstruction)
similar to the previous NIM paper.

Let's meet on January 9 (Tues) via Video, at 8:30am (JST),
to discuss over Calibration/Monte Carlo generation and analysis.
Please tell me your schedule (BU,UW,SUNY,SNU,Kobe etc).
